Oyster Bay recycles shells from oyster Festival
By Local Oyster Bay news desk
The Town of Oyster Bay is recycling thousands of pounds of shells collected at the Oyster Festival.
The shells will be transported to a curing facility and later returned to the harbor to help grow new shellfish.
Supervisor Joseph Saladino said, "You can’t have the Oyster Festival without oysters, and thousands of residents enjoyed this delicacy during the weekend’s festivities, " and "Thanks to the Town’s Shell Recycling Program, we can make sure the shells will not go to waste and be recycled back into our waters."
